Week #11

Hot Topic: A Create to Learn Project

Hot Topic Overview

You’ve found a partner and selected a topic. Now it’s time to begin the process to move your idea to an original digital composition. There are two parts to the process. Follow these steps, please.

Please create a blog or website on which you will post your assignments, and make sure that both of you have permissions to edit your digital platform. Enter your names and the URL of your digital platform in the Comments area of this page.

PART ONE

In the table below, there are two columns.

When you click on the left column, you go to a slideshow of one chapter from a new textbook called Create to Learn. In that chapter, you’ll find lots of background information. Skim through the chapter and familiarize yourself with the digital concepts.

The right column pinpoints the most important key concepts for you to consider in that chapter. You also have tasks to complete as a team for Chapters 2, 4, 5, and 6. Please conference with Dr. Carolyn when your team has completed each of the following tasks, and she’ll sign you off when you’re fully done each one.

Key Question
Areas to Consider
1
Participatory culture; communication strategies; digital authorship issues
2
Key insights of the creative process; getting started by building a Creative Brief

PART TWO

Now it’s time to consider which digital platform or platforms best represent the message you intend to impart to your audience. You’ll also need to decide who on your team will do which tasks.  Please conference with Dr. Carolyn when your team has decides which digital platform or platforms you’ll be using, and be ready to defend why this is the best for you/ your team. Consideration will be given to teams that attempt a never-before used digital platform.
