Conversational Exchanges and Discourse Analysis
In week five, we spent the last hour of class doing some eavesdropping of students on the Rhode Island College campus. The goals was to learn to observe individuals in their authentic settings and contexts in preparation to our upcoming Shadow Studies of middle school students.
In part one, you gathered five minutes of sustained conversational exchanges, with the option of using this template. In part two, you analyzed the content and context of these five minutes of conversational exchanges. These hints about writing the demographic paragraph can help, too.
It would be very supportive to other students in our class if you would post both your transcript and the paragraph in the comments section of this blog post. Thanks!
